Sisters of GloryA small musical miracle that emerged from Songmasters Inside-Out, a celebration of American music, in this case, Gospel Music, which Lois Walden wrote, hosted and directed. She devised the name, The Sisters of Glory, while in a yoga headstand. This ravishing, uplifting album featured Thelma Huston, CeCe Peniston, Phoebe Snow, Lois Walden and Albertina Walker. Lois also co-produced the album for Warner Bros. Records.

Amazing to have gotten an album deal. I was recording a demo for Mickey Leonard and Harold Berkman was in the room. He was starting Earth Records. He heard me sing, and he said “do you want to be a singer?” I said “No, I’m an actress.” And he said “well you’re a singer now.” One month later I was standing in front of a 32 piece orchestra with some of the best musicians in the world. Larry Wilcox as arranger, Phil Ramone engineer, Mike Manieri on vibes. Could it happen now? Hard to believe it happened then.
